The Hudson Company

In late 2019, we began working with The Hudson Company, a boutique reclaimed and custom hardwood flooring firm based in Pine Plains, New York. THC needed stories in the form of blog posts and essays, copy for their website to introduce new products and explain product specifications to clients, and they needed captions for Instagram posts in the voice of their other digital platforms and printed matter. Since then, we’ve helped expand the scope of the blog with producing pieces of writing on artists who worked wonders with wood, like Wharton Esherick, George Nakashima, and J.B. Blunk. We’ve written about outstanding residential projects that feature THC products, and embarked on deep dives into the surprising origins (mushroom farms!) of some types of reclaimed wood. And during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, we wrote about the nature of hands-on manufacturing in the 21st century, and how the company responsibly navigated lockdown. We’ve created captions for THC’s growing Instagram feed, and written introductions to new projects like the Upstate Collection, and the company’s exclusive partnership with the German flooring company Schotten and Hansen. Each of these smaller projects has a distinctive goal in mind, and they work together like puzzle pieces to tell The Hudson Company's story with authority, clarity, and verve.
